Presented in this lot is a Vintage Jackson & Co. Mother-of-Pearl carved handle and decorative gold NIB Dip Pen, circa 1900. The piece is from an old West Virginia estate collection. The handle has two sets of three settings with red rhinestone, clear, and turquoise half-round cabochons. In a white and blue velvet case. Nib is signed Jackson & Co. No. 7. NIB tested under 14k gold. Tapered handle. Dip pens emerged in the early 19th century, when they replaced quill pens and, in some parts of the world, reed pens. Dip pens were generally used before the development of fountain pens in the later 19th century and are now mainly used in illustration, calligraphy, and comics. This mother-of-pearl handle dip pen is in good overall condition, one setting is missing its stone. Measures 6.25"L
