The lot features a collection of seven original circa 1899 T.W. Ingersoll stereoviews of Sioux Indians in the West. Truman Ward Ingersoll (1862-1922) was a photographer in the West when was known for his stereoviews including Montana, Yellowstone National Park, Native Americans and more. Each card is marked on the bottom right with their title and some having the date and photographer name including the following: “436. Grey Eagle and Family. Sioux Lodge. Copyrighted, 1899, by T.W. Ingersoll.”, “454. Sioux Indian Rider and His Racing Pony.”, “475. Sioux Indian Rider Making Good Medicine Before the Race.”, “493 Jake Nahnami, Old Sioux Chief, (Walking Stones) and Jukawcauhdisca.”, “424. Family Group of Sioux and Lodge. Copyrighted, 1899, by T. W. Ingersoll.”, “111 Sioux Indian Chief, He-No-Fraid.”, “472. Mounted Sioux and Camp Copyrighted, 1899, by T.W. Ingersoll.” One of the views is also marked on either side with ”World Series / Reproduced From Original Stereoscopic Photograph”. Stereo views / stereoviews / stereoscopic etc. all. T.W. Ingersoll stereoviews have ranged in value with one single card selling at our NAAC 2023 sale for $325 and another from Fear Not Art Gallery from this series for $65 for a single card. Each card measures about 7” by 3.5”.
