"COLTS/PATENT" is stamped on the left side of the frame, "36 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard. The full serial number with the letter "L" (indicating revolver was designated for sale in England) is stamped on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap, with the wedge and loading lever unmarked.
