Steve and Tammy Fiarchuk of Christina Falls Outfitters offer this opportunity to hunt early season moose in British Columbia. This ten day, “Moose in Velvet” hunt is scheduled for August 15 to August 24, 2012 and cannot be deferred. This horseback hunt is a one-on-one guided hunt and is primarily spot and stalk. Christina Falls’ hunting concession contains numerous, large, natural licks which attract big antlered moose on a daily basis. This hunt is ideal for an archer as the moose are easy to pattern. Hunter may choose his weapon (rifle, muzzle-loader, bow or cross bow – no hand guns). This hunt may be upgraded to include additional hunters ($6,000), non-hunters ($300 per day), Black Bear, Mt. Goat and/or wolf. Accommodations during this hunt will be cabins or tents depending on actual location during the hunt. Hunter is responsible for the cost of a hunting license; moose tag; firearm permit; ground and air transportation to camp ($1,000); and tips. Hunter may harvest any antlered moose during the early season. After September 1, an antler restriction (three brow tines or ten points on a side) is in place. Given the restriction that is in place for most of the moose hunting season, large antlered moose with two brow tines are plentiful. Should hunter harvest a moose during the early season that would be legal after September 1 (three brow tines or ten points on a side), a $1,500 trophy fee is in place. The arrival and departure point for this trip is Fort St. John, British Columbia.
