Brevette of Colt 1851 Navy revolver, .36 caliber percussion, 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips, serial #17480. The breech end of the barrel is stamped “Colt Patent” in two lines. The cylinder is engraved with florals and shows “ELG” and crown Belgian stamps. The revolver retains 70-80% original blue just starting to tone and dull slightly with some light pitting and erosion just starting. The frame, hammer, and loading lever show 50-60% case hardening going light and silvery with some faint colors. The varnish wood grips are very good plus with 75-85% varnish, some slight wear at the edges. The backstrap and triggerguard show 30-50% blue. The action is crisp, one nipple is split.
