This is a wonderfully artistic fully beaded belt pouch that would have found use from a Blackfoot Native American Indian woman. The bag, that date to circa 1890 to early 1900’s shows a soft Indian tanned hide construction with fine long hand cut fringe hanging down and excellent floral / geometric beadwork on both sides in the period correct typical Blackfoot design. The beadwork is done with all period correct glass trade seed beads of semi-transparent, semi-transparent light green, semi-transparent greasy yellow, semi-transparent gold, semi-transparent brown, semi-transparent red and others. The original hide top strap that is still present and fringe each show excellent Czechoslovakia bugle glass tube beads in semi-transparent, black, red and other colors. The bag shows a fully beaded front or first side with semi-transparent background and a single flower surrounded by leaves. The rear or second side shows a more geometric pattern with three round symbols or flowers with two flowers above at each side. The piece has a fancy beaded top edge and appears to be in overall good condition. Measures 15.5” x 5.5”.
