Belt Ax with spike back and tacked shaft circa 1840-1880, measuring approx. 1880. Approx. 19-7/8” from end to end. The blade measures approx. 3-7/8” across its cutting edge. The back of the French style head shows the addition of a spike. The head shows a dark patina with some rust and erosion and some sharpening on its edge. The shaft is oak or hickory and is deeply stained and weathered with old original to the periodtacks. A good authentic piece that was an awesome weapon with the blade and spike. Est: $800 - $1,600
