Our Assessment: This Belgian Model 1924 Navy was made in 1952 by Fabrique Nationale (FN). It is marked with a large King Baudouin I crest "crown / B" on the top of the receiver as well as matching part numbers on the receiver, stock, and bolt handle. Belgium provided Militaries all around the world with Mausers. These are tough dependable rifles. This 1924 Navy comes with a Model 1924 sword bayonet & scabbard. Sights / Optics: The front sight is an inverted V post set atop a ramped base. The rear sight is a V notched blade attached to an escalator assembly.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose cap with bayonet lug, hole for the included cleaning rod, barrel band, 2 sling loops, through bolt, and a ribbed metal buttplate. The buttplate shows surface erosion. The wood shows numerous scrapes and scratches. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The muzzle & grooves are gray. The rifling is deep. There is erosion near the muzzle and in the grooves. In this writer's opinion, this bore rates 6.5 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 60% of its metal finish. The metal shows scrapes & scratches. Much of the paint finish has been lost. The exposed metal and the bolt assembly show discoloration from oxidation and areas of surface erosion. The screw heads show use. The markings range from well defined to partially faded. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good to Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. We have cleaned this firearm and performed a mechanic's check but expect many will want to clean the firearm again depending on their standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a leather sling and a Model 1924 sword bayonet & scabbard.
