Featured in this lot is a intaglio etching done by Montana Artist Barbara Coppock in 1999 titled "Countin' Sheep". This etching shows the Bair Family house in Martinsdale, Montana owned by Charles M. Bair a sheep rancher, who at one time was believed to have as many as 300,000 sheep. The Bair family was one of the most philanthropic in the state, supporting scholarships, hospitals, museums, libraries, mental health organizations, youth organizations and the music and arts. It was the wish of the last remaining Bair sisters that their home be left as a museum for the people of Montana to enjoy. The etching shows beautiful embossed sheep and stone wall around the colored scene, with the title "Countin' Sheep", and the artists signature and date "Cappock 1999". This etching is numbered 7 out of 90. On the back of the frame is a historical short story of the life of Charles M. Bair and the Bair family, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Barbara Coppock. Overall the etching and frame are in very good condition with no signs of damage. The piece measures 11 1/2" L x 19 1/2" W x 1 1/2" D.
