Authentic U.S.M.C. wood soldier’s trunk approx. 30” wide, 18” from front to back and 15” deep in overall very good used condition; interior has a removable “drawer” that contains a well-worn WWII era U.S. fightingknife and sheath with olive green woven hanger; two metal U.S. “mess kits” one dated 1942 by A.P. Co. and the other dated 1943 by LEYSE; an M1 carbine double military magazine pouch; a great original copy of anaircraft Recognition Pictorial Manual; a Green Cross original pamphlet “Young Pilots Safety from the Air for Our Highway Pilots” and several other misc. items of paperwork including an envelope that is cancelled in1945 in New York to a Francis E. Carlton of Rockford, Illinois. In the bottom section of the trunk is a GI WW II era canteen and woven “US” marked cover. The outside of the trunk is colorfully stenciled and paintedwith a number of “pin-up” girls, Marine Corps. logo and “F. E. Carlton, U.S.M.C.R. 5 IN. GROUP 1ST DEF. BN. CHARLIE BTRY.” On the lid and “MARINE BASE OAHU T. H. HAWAII T. H. PALMYRA ISLE PEARL HARBOR”; also
