Introduced in 1883. Windage adjustable spirit level globe front and buckhorn rear sights with barrel marked with the one line E. Remington & Sons address on the top flat and "40. 2 1/2" on the underside.The lower left side of the receiver has the two line Hepburn 1879 patent marking, with a mid-range folding sight on the tang. Smooth forearm with metal Schnabel tip and checkered round knob pistol grip stock with checkered shotgun buttplate.

Condition: Fine, with 40% original blue finish, showing areas of mixed brown and gray patina, bright edge wear, scattered spotting and handling marks. 60% vivid case colors are visible on the receiver, strongest in the protected areas, with some silvering and spotting. The stock is very fine, with mild scattered dings and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
