Attractive Full Stock Flintlock Kentucky Rifle with London Marked Lock Plate

The top barrel flat is marked "JOHN DER" with the remaining of the marking illegible (see photo), possibly the marking of John Derr of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who operated from 1810 to 1844. The lock plate has a simple pattern engraving and is marked "LONDON/WARRANTED" ahead of the engraved hammer. Equipped with fixed sights and a plain trigger. Brass crescent buttplate, side plate, patch box, trigger guard, forend cap and ramrod pipes. Mounted on an attractive full length tiger stripe maple stock with a patch box on the right side of the buttstock, a brass starburst overlay on the cheekpiece and a blank silver initial oval positioned behind the barrel tang.

Very good. The rifle has a smooth crisp dark patina with minor pitting. The brass has a pleasant mellow yellow color. The stock is fine with a sliver of wood missing from the forearm, a hairline crack near the lock and some scattered minor handling marks. Overall an attractive flintlock rifle.
