The lot features a wonderful beaded Buffalo Bison Indian tanned hide sheath and old 19th Century trade knife attributed to the Arapaho Native American Indians. The sheath is comprised of Indian brain-tanned Great American Bison Buffalo hide sinew sewn and has the original hide belt strap still attached covered in old porcupine quill quillwork with a natural green dye. Some of the quillwork is missing. The sheath has typical older Northern plains beaded geometric designs on the front and some minor wear with little bead loss. The old trade knife has old brass trade tacking on both sides of the wooden handle. The set is noted by the collector as being a 19th Century example. From the Dale Harrison ex-collection Cincinnati, Ohio. Sheath is 9-inches long by 3-inches wide. The knife is 11-inches long.
