This lot provides you with an Apache Native American Indian open-weaved burden basket. The basket has contrasting colored wicker weave, and features long cut hide fringe, with additional jingle cones. The burden basket is a widely used tool, and almost all design elements are used to be fully-functional - jingle cones were often used to warn off small predators, a loose weave was made for draining water, or a tight weave would be used to carry loose grain. This particular basket includes a piece of provenance dating the piece to 1923 - 1938. The basket shows good condition overall. The basket measures 10 1/4" across the top, 7 1/2" across the bottom, and 7 1/2" deep.
