Antique rifle Springfield Armory model 1863 Conversion, .51 at muzzle breech block, w/ bbl length 32 1/2" [Interesting antique rifle presumed to be Model 1863 muzzle loading converted to breech loading trap configuration with initials J.C.D. stamped on barrel, receiver and lock, presumably tied to the armourer or amoury during conversion. Other markings include matching serial number on barrel and receiver, "1869 U.S" on top of breech block, "1863, US SPRINGFIELD" on lock etc. Stock has been sporterized and support for ramrod removed and wooden plus inserted at front of remaining stock. Most original finish worn leaving natural brown patina and surface rust and pitting. Action and trigger does function. Some deeper gouges to stock and other use, handling and storage marks.] serial # 15157, No PAL required
