Antique Smith & Wesson Single Action 1st Model Spurtrigger Revolver, or ''Baby Russian,'' #23170, .38 S&W CF cal., 3.25'' tip-up barrel with pinned blade front sight, marked with maker's name, address and 1865-75 patent dates on top rib, has notched rear sight on barrel latch; 5-shot fluted round cylinder; solid frame has a large lower hinge, central hammer, integral spurtrigger sheath and flat-bottom gripstraps; two-piece finely checkered hard rubber grips have the ''S&W'' monogram within a relief panel at top. Mfg'd ca. 1876-77, originally with full nickel plating. Condition is very good+. Metal surfaces retain approx. 90% original nickel with scattered light discoloration/losses. Grips show minor wear, strong checkering, and fit well. Action is strong and smooth; bore is bright with sharp rifling and light etching toward muzzle; barrel hinge and latch are secure; all edges and markings are sharp. Est.: $400-$650. (Antique)
