An unusual gun made in a time of great change in Japan. The Japanese were moving from a feudal system straight into the modern world. This gun is a perfect fusion of the two worlds, shaped like a classic Japanese tanegashima matchlock buthaving a modern bolt action. With no marks of any kind this gun was probably copied in Japan from a European bolt action rifle in the 1870’s. A rare and unusual Meiji Era gun. Late 19th century. Good condition, crack on fore stock and missingemblem on left side of stock. Measures 50”. (Antique). Est.: $500-$600.
