An outstanding Ames Mfg. Co. Model 1840 U.S. sword and metal scabbard in overall excellent condition showing near approx. 99% of its original polish, hilt of blade dated 1846 and “JH” inspected; excellent wire wrapped gripand brass guard; top of pommel is “WAT” and “NWP” inspected; the metal scabbard is in excellent overall condition with two old dents in the lower end. This is one of the best Model 1840’s we’ve seen in some time and is a 9.8+ on a scale of 10. Est.: $1,250-$2,500.
