American single-shot dueling pistol signed Strohbecker Charleston, on barrel. Approx. .45 caliber smooth bore. 8” medium to heavy octagon barrel, 14-1/8” overall, back action percussion lock, engraved iron mounts. The pistol remains in fair to good original condition showing some light to slightly heavy scattered pitting and erosion, the heavier pitting occurring on the muzzle and flats of the barrel. The nipple is an old replacement. The forend cap which was probable horn has broken away and the wood is exposed. The stock is fair to good with some compressions, mars, small repairs, but generally good overall with good sharp checkering. The maker’s signature is slightly light but legible under magnification. The pistol has been well used and carried. With a handmade period replacement ramrod. Action good.
