American percussion dueling/target pistol, Signed Norris & Bro. Makers, Baltimore. .56 caliber smoothbore, 10-3/8” medium to heavy weight barrel, 17” overall. The pistol shows a back-action type lock, iron triggerguard with spur, half-stocked, horn forend cap, checkered grip, nicely engraved lock and mounts. The barrel shows a mottled brownish purple finish, of which about 40% remains. The lock and breech show 30-50% toning grey case hardening with some light colors. The stock is good with some normal wear, small losses, etc. The year “1838” is scratched into the butt in very small numerals. The triggerguard shows 30-50% original blue, the action is good, the condition is generally good overall. A very scarce Baltimore maker. One of a few known examples. From the William R.
