American full-stock percussion Kentucky-type rifle showing fancy patchbox with whale’s tale style finial. Silver or German silver inlays, octagon to round barrel, circa approx. 1840-50’s. The rifle is unsigned andmeasures 58-3/8” overall with 44” barrel. Approx. 46 caliber, 6-groove deeply rifled. The stock shows an artificial grain and is a light colored wood. The metal surfaces show a patina finish with some light to moderatepitting with heavier erosion at the firing areas and onto the hammer. 15 German silver inlays and hearts, spangles, half-moon, and scroll motifs. With brass mounts and lockplate secured by two screws, the forwardlockplate screw escutcheon shows a tulip type design. The stock shows considerable original finish and is in good condition with some small losses along the edge with some normal wear, small loss of finish, even wear. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
