American Revolutionary era Naval cutless sword with brass D guard showing issue or rack number No. 59 on back of the quillon which is nicely hand engraved. The cutless measures 26 ½” overall and approximate 1 ¼” across widest part of blade. The blade shows some light to slightly heavy scattered pitting and erosion and the hilt shows a dark almost black patina. The original leather over wire grip is good to very good showing a few scuffs and minor losses. Est.: $800-$1,600.
