American 19th American Dirk with Tortoise Shell Grip Panels and Unique Coin Silver Mounts and Scabba
This American dirk has a 4 1/2" blade with artfully shaped guard. The silver handle has a round pommel with a floral blossom inserted on the top. The handle also has checkered tortoise shell grip panels (note that each panel has different sized checkering). OAL: 7 3/4". Complete with a unique silver scabbard which has a pin on the back for attaching to a coat lapel for concealment. Consignor notes states that the holdout pin concept is the product of revered American edged weapon maker Samuel Bell, possibly making this part of his extremely scarce body of work

Condition: Very good. The blade has a dark gray patina with some minor spotting and some sharpening marks. The silver handle has aged with a minor ding on the pommel and a missing piece around the panels. The tortoise shell panels have some missing chips. A very unique ornate American Dirk.
