Manufactured between 1870 and 1890 and having produced approximately 6,500, this was the first single shot pistol produced by Colt after they purchased the patent rights from National Arms Co. German silver half-moon front sight and hammer notch rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. Co./HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." followed by " No1" flanked by Maltese crosses. The matching serial number is marked on the butt and on the bottom of the barrel. The bottom of the barrel is also marked with crown over "V" and "GP" proof marks. The frame has the standard light scroll engraving with the checkered side and rear panels in the grip area.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel retains 75% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The frame retains 98% original silver finish with some high point wear. The silver has darkened with age. The barrel markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
