Allen percussion single-shot rifle, circa 1830’s to 40’s. 26-1/2” medium weight octagon barrel. Heavy enforced buttplate, simple engraved frame, similar to pepperbox. Left side of barrel nicely marked Allen & Thurber, Worchester. The rifle shows a brown patina finish with traces of blue mixed in, some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting, good wood, generally good overall. The rifle shows period improved v-notch rear sight and large blade front sight. Many of these rifles headed West with the ’49-ers. Est: $600 - $1,200
