Marked "ALLEN & WHEELOCK. WORCESTER. MASS. U.S. / LEN'S PT'S JAN. 13. DEC. 15, 1857. SEPT. 7.18" on the left side on the barrel. The serial numbers match on the frame, cylinder, cylinder pin, loading lever, frame and grips. Note the variation in barrel marking due to placement of the rolling dies. The pinch front sight has a dovetail base. The rear sight is a notch in the nose of the hammer. The trigger guard/loading lever is retained by a catch in the spur on the frame behind the trigger.
BBL: 7 1/2 inch part octagon
Stock:
Gauge: 44
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 98
Condition: Very good, with 25% of the original blue finish, showing a mixed brown patina on balance with scattered spots of mild pitting. The side plate does not fit snug to frame. Grips are fine with most of the original varnish, some dings, scratches and dents on butt. Mechanically functions fine, but cylinder spins freely on half cock.
