Pre-Civil War, hand monogram of L V V S and from the Van Vleck family, the top crest band of this pitcher has the Greek Key design , center band of Greek Key, classical applied handle and base rim that holds the pitcher up off the top of the table. Classical design and the monogramming is simply elegant and beautiful. There are small dents and abrasions from use but this piece is coming up on 150 years old. 10" tall to the lip, 7" from lip to handle. There is one dent the size of a nickel on the base of one side and another that is may be 1/3 that size on the other side. There are hand hammered marks on the inside of the pitcher and this is truly one of the prettiest water pitchers you ever saw.
