DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 8mm Gasser. S# 154465. Bbl 4 5/8". Model 1898 double action revolver manufactured by Rast & Gasser in Wien Austria. Left side of frame sideplate is stamped "PATENT/ RAST & GASSER/ WIEN". Top strap bears an Austrian 1917 acceptance proof. Pommel is stamped "24" with a line over "21". Metal components are blued, with the frame being mounted with 2 piece checkered wood grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, sideplate (interior), left grip panel (interior), cylinder, barrel, and ejector rod/cylinder pin lug. Dovetailed blade front sight with frame V-notch rear sight. CONDITION: metal components exhibit wear and thinning overall that shows through to a pleasant gray patina. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered areas of pitting and fair rifling throughout. Grips show some scattered marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise very good overall.
