ARMY CLASS A DRESS UNIFORM FOR 4 STAR GENERAL &
FUTURE SECRETARY OF STATE COLIN L. POWELL. This superb Class A dress uniform belonged to one of the most famous Generals of the modern age, Colin L. Powell. Powell rose to the rank of 4 Star General under President George Herbert Walker Bush and served as Commander in Chief, Forces Command headquartered in Fort McPherson, Georgia. From 1989 until 1993, General Powell served as the 12th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest military position in the Department of Defense. From 2001 to 2005, Colin Powell served as the United States Secretary of State under the George W. Bush administration. The uniform is complete with all appropriate awards & insignia that include 4 silver stars on each shoulder tab along with gold “U.S.” at the base of the collar. The right sleeve has a 23rd Infantry Division patch, and the left sleeve has a Ranger tab. Awards include The Presidential Service Badge, Secretary of Defense identification Badge, Joint Chiefs of Staff identification badge, Army Staff identification badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Combat Infantryman Badge. Ribbons include The Defense Distinguished Service Medal with 2 oak leaves, The Distinguished Service Medal, The Defense Superior Service Medal, The Legion of Merit with one oak leaf, The Soldier’s Medal, The Bronze Star, The Purple Heart, The Air Medal, The Joint Service Commendation Medal, The Army Commendation Medal with 2 oak leaves, The National Defense Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, The Army Overseas Service Ribbon with the number “2”, and The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. The base of each sleeve has a 1 1/2" black band. Above the interior right pocket there is a label that reads “HAND TAILORED BY BANDO BANDO (logo) SHIN TAILOR Custom Tailor ITAEWON SEOUL KOREA TEL: 793-0812.” Above the interior left pocket, the name “C. L. Powell” is embroidered in yellow thread. Finally, the exterior right breast pocket flap has a black & white plastic name tag that reads “POWELL”. There is an extra name tag included inside the lower right outer pocket. The matching uniform pants are also included and show two 1/2" black stripes down the outside of each leg. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a copy of a bill of sale from the original owner of the uniform who purchased it at the Fort Myer Thrift Shop in September of 1993. CONDITION: the uniform coat remains in exceptional condition showing no appreciable wear or damage. The uniform pants also show little wear and no damage. (02-19946/BF). $5,000-10,000.
