CAMOUFLAGE UNIFORM SET. This extraordinary Vietnam US Navy tiger stripe camouflage uniform set belonged to 4-Star Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, who was the Commander of Naval forces Vietnam until 1970 when he was named Chief of Naval Operations by President Richard Nixon. The uniform itself is a standard style as worn by the US Navy with “U.S. NAVY” above the left pocket. Above the right pocket is the name “ZUMWALT”. Additionally, there are 4 silver stars on each collar. It is hard to imagine a more interesting uniform group of the Vietnam era than the personal tiger stripe uniform of Admiral Elmo Zumwalt. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a letter dated 24 May 1983 from Admiral Zumwalt on his stationary that reads in part “Dear Bob: I attach an autograph picture as you requested and the jungle fatigues with the name tag which I used in command of the U.S. Naval Forces, Vietnam, from 1968 to 1970.” The letter is signed “E R Zumwalt Jr”. Included are also two autographed photos personalized by Admiral Zumwalt. CONDITION: uniform shows very light wear overall. Photographs show no damage. Letter also shows no damage.
