A well written and detailed challenge for a duel, three pages, folded into two, mentions General B., later identified as Breckenridge and identifies all other major players just by the first letters of the last name. Identifies a Mr. Lloyd, and mentions a prior letter being destroyed and sets out the details. We believe this to be General Breckenridge from Kentucky, a Confederate General during the Civil War, and was probably party to this incident as a second or judge and also ran for president in 1860. This document seems to be from the 1850’s. From the William R. Orbelo Collection. Est: $500 - $1,000
