A pair of rare double-barrel over/under flintlock pistols with detachable shoulder stock by Tatham and Egg of London. The pair remain in near fine condition showing 80-90% English brown finish with striping on barrels, just some slight thinning a the edges and muzzles, some minor erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The locks have been lightly polished and show their original hammers, small parts, and springs. Beautifully detailed engraving with platinum bands and lined touch-holes. The guns are stocked in good quality walnut checkered at the grip. Stocks are in very good condition with just some darkening, minor marks, normal aging. The tang area is inlaid with silver owner’s plaques that are engraved with an eagle, crown, and three fancy initials which are not discernable. The original shoulder stock is in good condition and is also marked Tatham and are engraved to match. The pistols show small maker’s cartouches at each breech area. The pair measur 14-1/8” overall with 8” barrels, approx. .62 caliber smoothbore. 23-1/2” overall when stock attached. The pair are of durable and heavy construction and are the type to be made for a British officer in the Napoleonic era. Pairs of
