A lobster-tail helmet made in Europe, possibly English. This type of helmet was widely used during the Thirty Years War (1618-1648) and the English Civil War (1642-1651). This helmet consist of a one piece steel bowl with appliedvisor, four lames protecting the neck and a pair of ear flaps, all with rolled edges. Also has an adjustable sliding nasal bar. Maker’s marks on the visor both on the top and bottom. Early-middle 17th century. Great condition,leather holding ear flaps has been replaced but was done correctly and shows some age. Bowl measures tall 5 ½”and 9 ½” wide. Measures 17 ½” overall. Est.: $1,750-$2,250.
