A heavy Ottoman Turkish flanged mace of the type used at the Battle of Vienna in 1683. Long metal neck ending in a heavy 17 flanged head. These maces were used by Ottoman Janissary and Sipahi as both a weapon and a symbol of rank. Has Turkishwriting on shaft. Haft is a later replacement, shows age, probably 19th century. 16th-17th century. Great condition. Mace head measures 2 ½” across and 18” overall. Est.: $2,500-$3,000.
