For auction in this lot is a 1st edition, hard bound copy of A Thousand-Mile Walk to the Gulf by John Muir. The novel was published in 1916 by Houghton Mifflin Company. John Muir’s 1,000 mile walk to the Gulf is a story of inspiration, triumph, and spirituality. His journey across the rugged lands of America was brought about by John’s need to get closer to God’s creatures. John began his walk to the Gulf of Mexico in 1867, two years after the Civil War, keeping only the bare essentials, which included a notebook were he recorded his experiences. Additionally, the novel includes many plate illustrations. Overall, the book shows good condition. The novel measures 8 1/2" tall, 5 3/4" wide, and 1 1/4" thick.
