This is a scarce edition of "A Daughter of the Sioux" by Gen. Charles King, published in 1903. "A Daughter of the Sioux" is a classic tale of the Old West and the demise of the Indian. The book was written by Gen. Charles King, a United States soldier and a distinguished writer. He graduated from West Point in 1866 and served in the Army during the Indian Wars under George Crook. He was wounded in the arm forcing his retirement from the regular army. During this time he became acquainted with Buffalo Bill Cody. King would later write scripts for several of Cody's silent films. He wrote and edited over 60 books and novels. The book's illustrations are by Frederic Remington and Edwin Willard Deming. It has the names of two previous owners written on the back of the frontispiece. There are some blemishes and marks on the spine and the front cover. The book measures 5.5" x 7.5".
