For your consideration is this 80th Anniversary Pony Express desk set circa 1940. This was an anniversary product for the Pony Express Mail Service, started in 1860 and ending in 1861. The plaque is brass and shows two portrait photographs on either side featuring Franklin D. Roosevelt and Post Master General James Farley. The center of the brass plaque reads, "80th Anniversary / The Pony Express / 1940" and shows the Pony Express logo, a cowboy riding a horse. The desk set shows a carved out slot in the center for smaller pens, pencils and other trinkets while both sides feature an adjustable stand to hold a ball point pen and felt pen. The bottom of the desk set is lined with felt to prevent scratching to itself and other surfaces. The piece shows good condition overall with little to no wear present. No signs of obvious damage are noted. The piece measures 6 7/8" L x 14 1/2" W x 9 1/2" H and weighs 2 pounds and 4 ounces.
