5 GERMAN FIREMAN’S DRESS AXES.
1) This is a presentation grade axe measuring approx. 17” in height with a 7 1/4" head. The plated head is completely etched in foliate & fire equipment motifs. There is a large standing fireman holding a hose engraved on one side. The black wooden haft has an attached 4” plate that reads “In treuem Gedenked Unserem verehrten Brandmeister Herrn Alfred Wolbing Freiw. Feuerwehr Hersfeld I.Loschzug 1925.” The haft has 2 suspension rings with partial suspension straps and a plated buttcap. CONDITION: head shows no damage. Plate has a worn finish but is easily legible. Haft remains quite strong with most of the original finish. 2) This is a presentation grade axe measuring approx. 13 1/4” in height with a 7" head. The plated head is completely etched in foliate & fire equipment motifs. There is a large standing fireman holding a hose engraved on one side. The black wooden haft has an attached unengraved 3 1/4” plate. The haft has 2 suspension rings and a plated buttcap. CONDITION: head shows light surface wear. The remainder of the axe shows light overall wear. 3) This is a dress grade axe measuring approx. 14 1/4” in height with a 7" head. The plated head is unengraved. The black wooden haft has a plated buttcap. The axe is mounted in a leather frog for carrying on the belt. CONDITION: axe shows light wear overall. The frog has some separated stitches and is quite worn on the spike end. 4) This is a dress grade axe measuring approx. 13 1/2” in height with a 6 1/2" head. The plated head is unengraved. The black wooden haft has a plated buttcap. The axe is mounted in a leather frog for carrying on the belt. CONDITION: axe shows light to moderate wear overall. The frog is complete but the stitching has separated along the top. 5) This is a dress grade axe measuring approx. 15 3/8” in height with a 7 1/4" head. The plated head is unengraved. The light natural wood haft has a plated buttcap and 2 carrying rings near the head. There is a WWII German party symbol scratched into the wood that is of undetermined age.
