.45 caliber percussion made by Henry Deringer and marked on breech and lock. Early styling, early hammer, engraved iron triggerguard, seven-groove rifling. No proof on breech, small spur around escutcheon bylockplate screw. Condition is good with a patina finish, some light pitting and erosion. The stock shows some even wear to the checkering and some good grain to the wood. An original to the period brass-tippedramrod is included. With letter from noted author and Deringer expert L. D. Eberhart describing the Deringer as 1835 to 1845 and an authentic early piece. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
