This is a Victorian era officer's helmet for the 3rd or Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards. The skull and peaks are composed of gilt copper. The skull has high gilt copper comb decorated with an oak leaf and acorn pattern. At the front of the comb is a removable crouched lion head finial. The finial is removable and can be replaced with a bearskin crest for full dress. The plate has the Royal Arms of Great Britain with a Victorian crown at the top. There are battle honors for "TALAVERA", "ALBUHERA", "VITTORIA" and "PENINSULA". There is a banner at the top of the front peak reading "3rd or PRINCE OF WALESS DRAGn. GUARDS". There are large gilt copper floral scroll patterns on the rear sides of the skull. The rear peak has a gilt copper scallop and scroll pattern. Large Tudor rose ear bosses suspend the black velvet lined chin scales with paw clasps. The inside of the front peak is painted green with the rear peak having a brown leather lining. There is a white quilted sweat band with green backing.

Condition: Good, there are some scattered dents, some repaired cracks, some small cracks, some finish wear and some verdigris. The liner is very good with some stains.
