3 US M1860 STAFF & FIELD OFFICER TYPE SWORDS.
1) Overall length: 38 5/8”. Blade length: 31 1/4". The diamond cross section blade is etched over the first 12 1/2" w/ various foliate, patriotic, & military motifs, including a “US” & a spread-wing eagle. The ricasso is stamped “RIDABOCH & CO. NEW-YORK” in an oval on one side & “MADE IN FRANCE” w/ a cartouche on the other. Gilded brass hilt w/ eagle embellished front guard & functional folding rear guard. Embellished knuckle bow & pommel. Wire-wrapped sharkskin grip. Gilded brass mounted, plated scabbard. CONDITION: blade show some original factory polish w/ some darkened areas & peppery staining. Hilt shows light wear w/ substantial original gilding intact. Scabbard shows traces of original gilding on the mounts w/ some light oxidation to the scabbard body. 2) Overall length: 36 5/8”. Blade length: 28 3/4". The diamond cross section blade is etched over the first 18" w/ various foliate, geometric, & patriotic motifs. The ricasso is etched “W.A. RAYMOLD NEW YORK N.Y.”. Gilded brass hilt w/ eagle & flag embellished front guard & shield w/ spray of arms embellished rear folding guard. Leaf & knuckle w/ eagle & shield pommel. Wire-wrapped sharkskin grip. Gilded brass mounted, plated scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark overall patina, and the etching is a bit light. Hilt retains some original gilding. The rear folding guard does not hold position. Grip is a bit shrunk but substantially undamaged. Scabbard shows traces of gilding to the mounts, and the plated finish is peeling in spots. 3) Overall length: 34 1/2”. Blade length: 27 3/4". The diamond cross section blade is etched over the first 14 3/4" showing various foliate motifs along w/ a “US” & spread-wing eagle. The ricasso is etched “WARNOCK & CO NEW YORK.”. Gilded brass hilt w/ eagle & spray of arms on the front guard. Embellished knuckle bow & pommel. Wire-wrapped leather grip. Gilded brass mounted, iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray, mottled patina and etching remains quite crisp. Hilt shows only traces of original gilding and is slightly loose. Grip is undamaged. Scabbard mounts show traces of original gilding. The cleaned scabbard body shows the remains of a browned finish. (02-21216/BF). $500-700.
