24k Gold Rim Sungott Studio Porcelain Paintings
This lot includes a pair of Sungott Art Studio porcelain paintings with 24k gold rims. The porcelain disks are 3 1/4" across and set into shadowbox style frames. The first plaque shows a woman in a reddish pink dress standing in a grassy area with a man in a blue jacket behind her looking away. Around the plaque is a gold rim with a black scroll design surrounding the plaque inside the frame. The design is very intricate and shows great detail. On the back of the first piece, it has a label that reads, “Genuine Porcelain Hand Enameled 24 Kt Gold Rim Sungott Art Studio New York, Style No. 790.” The second plaque displays a woman in a large white puffy dress getting kissed on the hand from a man with a blue and brown top. There appears to be a musical instrument on the ground in the plaque and statue in the background. This plaque shows great detail and has a very intricate design throughout, with the same scroll and shadowbox framing. The back of this piece reads, “Genuine Porcelain Hand Enameled 24 Kt Gold Rim Sungott Art Studio New York, Style No. 790, Re-Order No. 790.” Sungott Art Studios of New York was an art distribution company that was in operation in the 1950s and 1960s. The company specialized in mass-produced home furnishings and decorative items that were sold at a low price and are now collectors’ items. These pieces are in good condition. The frames are set in a diamond shape and measure 10 3/4" X 8 1/4".
