Two (2) antique ledger books from major private refrigerator car lines in the United States: the Saint Louis Refrigerator Car Company (SLRX) and the Santa Fe Refrigerator Despatch (SFRD). The Santa Fe line was a subsidiary of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway established in 1884 for carrying perishable commodities. SLRX was established in Anheuser-Busch, the brewer's first subsidiary. The ledgers detail the renting and stationing of each car dating and numbering the cars and stations. Pricing is scattered through including adjustments like "Take 45 cents off for the day." Dated between 1913 and 1915. Books are in very good condition with normal signs of aging. The ink inside is still very clear. 20 1/2 X 15 1/2 inches.
