Active from 1788 to 1922 as part of the Household Cavalry, the 1st Regiment of Life Guards bore many battle honors, including those of Waterloo and the Relief of Kimberley. Amalgamated with the 2nd Regiment, the unit legacy is preserved to this day by the Life Guard. Measuring 41 inches overall, the 35 inch straight single fuller blade is marked "HAWKES/&Co/Manufacture" in an etched panel on the left side. Cut-through nickel guard with brass panels, a gold ribbon portapee with wire acorn, and a wire wrapped stamped leather grip. With a nickel finished sheath, furnished with an engraved brass tip, suspension bands, and marked "FFCC" on the upper band.

Condition: Good. The blade is buffed bright, with scattered handling marks and spotting, and mild spotting is present on the inside of the guard. Makers mark is clearly legible. Light wear is present on the grip, and the sheath is fair with spotting and scratches.
