19th Century English Bowie Knife with Rare Mameluke Style Hilt and Sheath
The bowie was in the Bill Williamson bowie sale. Measuring 9 1/4" long, the blade is unmarked. Oval shaped iron guard. The bowie knife has the rarely seen mameluke hilt. It is fitted with ivory scales with a single rivet. OAL: 13 3/4". Complete with a canvas bound wooden sheath with silver tip and throat.

Condition: Fine. The polished blade has some minor pitting, scratches and spotting, with the point chipped and evidence of being sharpened. The guard has a smooth dark brown patina overall. The scales have a missing sliver of ivory (right side) and a couple hairline age cracks at the butt, with some minor scratches. The ivory has an attractive aged yellow appearance and attractive grain pattern. There is some moderate canvas loss on the sheath with the wood cracked, decorative bands loose, and some minor dents on the fittings.
