19th C. Venetian Millefiori Beads - L.A. Huffman
The lot features a strand of 1800’s Venetian Millefiori trade beads collected by L.A. Huffman. The piece includes twenty-three original Venetian Millefiori exotic trade beads including around five or so different patterns. The beads include a pattern in white, blue, red and black, another in yellow, red, blue and white, another pattern in white, blue, red and yellow, another in yellow, red, white, blue and black and lastly a pattern in green, black, yellow, red, white and blue. The beads consist of many eight to four layer chevrons formed together in what is called Millefiori. The piece was collected in Montana by Laton Alton Huffman (1854-1931). L.A. Huffman was a noted photographer in Montana. His collection was acquired by noted Montana collector John Fox. This piece is from the John Fox, Missoula, Montana collection. The meads are approximately 1 5/8 to 1 1/8” long and approximately ½ inches in diameter. Total length of 29”L.
