19SA-2 F.D. BLISS REVOLVER
F.D. Bliss .28 caliber revolver converted to rimfire showing finely period scroll engraved and inscribed attributed to L.D. Nimschke. The back strap shows in fancy block style letters “P.T. James, N.Y.”. The lettering isvery similar to others with New York and N.Y. illustrated in Nimschke book by Wilson and John Malloy. Circa Civil War era, S/N 865. The barrel shows “F.D. Bliss, New Haven, Ct.”. This revolver shows the majority of its original silver finish gone to a blue/black uncleaned patina and is excellent overall. The grips are select varnished rosewood and also near fine. The best of this scarce early model revolver we have encountered in 50years plus selling collector’s firearms. Consignor believes it to be the best example extant and the inscription should be researched as to the identity of P.T. James. (Antique) Est.: $2500-$5000
