Colt Root Model 4 in .31 caliber percussion with a 3 ½” octagon barrel and fluted cylinder, S/N 1897. All matching numbers. Cased with accessories. This Root remains in original good to very good condition with 30%-50% original toning blue finish. The “Up” side is still very blue and “Downside” is going brown. The grips retain 80%-90% varnish with minor edge wear and aging. The action works well. The address is slightly light and some very minor pitting. A two sided eagle and shield flask with “E Plurbis Unum” in banner for .31 caliber is included along with mold, screwdriver and cap tin. The case is very good plus to almost fine with very slight aging at the contact points. A good set with exceptional case. Provenance: The award winning Colt Collector’s Association member Malcolm R.
