1983-1984 Michel Goulet Quebec Nordiques La Coupe Jean Lesage Trophy
The Jean Lesage Cup is named after the beloved Premier of Quebec (1960-1966) Jean Lesage, sometimes portrayed as the father of the "Quiet Revolution." The trophy was presented annually by the Quebec Nordiques to the player who was the most outstanding representative of his profession. This trophy was presented to Nordique right wing Michel Goulet for the 1983-1984 season, Goulet having won it the previous year as well. This impressive trophy measures 34-1/2" and features a torch bearing figure above a silver cup mounted on a wood and marble base. On the front is a plaque with photograph of Lesage, on either side of which are mounted the heraldic fleur-de-lis. Below this is a plaque that is engraved in part "La Coupe Jean Lesage." On the lowest part of the base are six small plaques, four of which have been engraved with the prior awardees including Goulet, Peter Stasny and the first winner Robbie Ftorek. On the two adjacent sides are small blank plaques which would have ostensibly been engraved with future winners' names. Overall EXMT-NRMT condition with very light wear. This item will be expensive to ship.
