This lot offers up a 1960's era Bassano Italian glazed ceramic swan soup tureen, imported and sold by Holzheimers of Cleveland Ohio. Holzheimer Interiors is still in business today, and is one of the oldest design firms in the country - having started in 1902. The tureen originates from the city of Bassano del Grappa, in the Vicenza province of Italy. The city of Bassano has been producing high quality ceramic earthenware since the 17th century. This tureen in particular has a removable lid, with "feather" handles in the middle of the back. The head and feet of the swan shows detailed hand painting, which gives the tureen excellent personality. This excellent piece of craftsmanship is in good condition overall. It measures; 19" tall, 11" wide, and 23" long.
